How a meeting in Paris led to a collaboration built on technical expertise, flexibility and shared product development.
Artome is a Finnish company developing innovative, installation-free audiovisual solutions. Its mobile AV units combine projection and sound technology in a single, easy-to-use product, allowing spaces to be transformed into presentation and meeting environments without fixed installations.
For SELKA, the collaboration with Artome is a good example of how a single product idea can grow into a long-term partnership in product development and manufacturing.
Artome's installation-free AV solution
It all started in Paris
The collaboration between SELKA and Artome began at Workspace Expo in Paris in spring 2024. SELKA's Juha Nevalainen met representatives of Artome at the same exhibition where Moore Design launched the Strobi table, developed in collaboration with SELKA.
During their conversation, they discussed Artome's product development needs and soon identified a potential project: a small side table designed to be used alongside Artome's AV units.
The idea quickly moved forward. SELKA manufactured a prototype of the table, and an agreed quantity was subsequently produced and delivered to the United States.
What started as a relatively simple accessory became the beginning of a broader collaboration.

From design ideas to manufacturable solutions
Today, SELKA works closely with Artome as a product development and manufacturing partner. The collaboration brings together Artome's product design expertise and SELKA's experience in metalworking, technical design and manufacturing.
One example of this cooperation involved developing a component for a tilting mechanism.
Artome's designer Joel Hautala visited SELKA's factory in Nastola to work directly with SELKA's Aleksi Väisänen. Based on Joel's design, Aleksi adapted the technical drawings to make the component suitable for production.
The team then manufactured the first parts using laser cutting and sheet metal bending. Together, Joel and Aleksi reviewed the results, made adjustments and produced further versions until they were satisfied with the outcome.
Working side by side made it possible to move quickly between design, manufacturing and testing. Instead of exchanging drawings back and forth over a long period, the two designers could develop and refine the solution together at the factory.

A partner in continuous product development
The collaboration has continued beyond individual components and accessories. SELKA is involved in Artome's ongoing product development work, including solutions for new products.
For Artome, an important part of the partnership is the ability to work flexibly and efficiently with a manufacturer that understands both design requirements and the realities of production.
The close geographical proximity of the two companies also supports the collaboration. When needed, designers can meet in person, review technical details and develop solutions together.
